Diese geschnitzte Kiste aus Lindenholz ist eine Hommage an die Tradition der Brienzer Bären, die einst mit großer Detailverliebtheit geschitzt wurden. Die Etikette auf der Kiste deutet darauf hin, dass sich darin handgeschnitzte Brienzer Bären befinden – eine paradoxe Aussage, da die Bären nur durch das Zerstören der Kiste freigelegt werden könnten. Die Kiste bleibt so selbst ein Kunstwerk, das ebenso Potenzial für Transformation birgt, wie die Bären, die in ihr verborgen sind.

Mit derselben Detailtreue, die einst in die Herstellung der Brienzer Bären floss, wurde auch die Kiste gestaltet. Sie spiegelt die Kunstfertigkeit vergangener Generationen wider und fordert den Betrachter heraus, über Wert, Zerstörung und die Entstehung von Kunst nachzudenken, das ständige Potenzial, aus einem bestehenden Material Neues zu schaffen – ein aktiver Eingriff in die Tradition des Handwerks.

Cette boîte sculptée en bois de tilleul rend hommage à la tradition des ours de Brienz, qui étaient autrefois sculptés avec un grand souci du détail. L’étiquette apposée sur la boîte indique qu’elle contient des ours de Brienz sculptés à la main – une affirmation paradoxale, car ces ours ne pourraient être mis au jour qu’en détruisant la boîte. La boîte reste ainsi une œuvre d’art en soi, qui recèle un potentiel de transformation tout aussi grand que les ours qui y sont cachés.

La boîte a été conçue avec le même souci du détail qui caractérisait autrefois la fabrication des ours de Brienz. Elle reflète le savoir-faire des générations passées et invite le spectateur à réfléchir à la valeur, à la destruction et à la création artistique, ainsi qu’au potentiel constant de créer du nouveau à partir d’un matériau existant – une intervention active dans la tradition de l’artisanat.

This carved limewood box pays homage to the tradition of the Brienz bears, which were once carved with great attention to detail. The label on the box suggests that it contains hand-carved Brienz bears – a paradoxical statement, as the bears could only be revealed by destroying the box. The box thus remains a work of art in its own right, harbouring just as much potential for transformation as the bears hidden within it.

The box was designed with the same attention to detail that once went into the creation of the Brienz bears. It reflects the craftsmanship of past generations and challenges the viewer to reflect on value, destruction and the creation of art, the constant potential to create something new from existing material – an active intervention in the tradition of craftsmanship.
