Über drei Jahre lang reiste die Winterthurer Schreinerin Sara Zünd zu Fuss oder per Anhalter durch Europa. Im Gepäck hatte sie nur das Nötigste: Schlafsack und Schlafmatte, wenig Werkzeug und Kleidung zum Arbeiten. «Viel mehr braucht man auch gar nicht, um durchs Leben zu kommen», sagt die engagierte Holzbildhauerin. Mit tiefer Achtung vor natürlichen Rohstoffen, traditionellen Techniken und einer Passion für organische Formen gestalten sie und ihr Partner Werke, die Räume mit Charakter und Ausdruckskraft erfüllen.

Pendant plus de trois ans, Sara Zünd, menuisière originaire de Winterthour, a parcouru l’Europe à pied ou en auto-stop. Elle n’emportait avec elle que le strict nécessaire : un sac de couchage et un matelas de sol, quelques outils et des vêtements de travail. « On n’a pas besoin de grand-chose de plus pour traverser la vie », affirme cette sculptrice sur bois engagée. Animés par un profond respect pour les matières premières naturelles et les techniques traditionnelles, ainsi que par une passion pour les formes organiques, elle et son partenaire créent des œuvres qui insufflent caractère et expressivité aux espaces.

For over three years, Sara Zünd, a carpenter from Winterthur, travelled through Europe on foot or by hitchhiking. She carried only the bare essentials: a sleeping bag and sleeping mat, a few tools, and work clothes. “You don’t really need much more than that to get by in life,” says the dedicated wood sculptor. With a deep respect for natural raw materials, traditional techniques and a passion for organic forms, she and her partner create works that fill spaces with character and expressiveness.
